The affected families of the October 8, devastating earthquake in Bagh district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have started reconstruction of their shattered houses on self help basis keeping in view the fast approaching chilling winter.
"One hundred and fifty families have started reconstruction of their shattered houses in Dhulli sub-sector of the Bagh district, due to fear of fast approaching winter. 35 families in Bagh city have also entered in the run to reconstruct their houses on self help bases", said a spokesman of the Inter-Services Public Relations here on Monday.
He said that during relief operation Pakistan Army had distributed 1708 tents among the needy earthquake affectees of 31 villages of Bagh district including Potha, Hattiala topa, Ballam topa, Sallian maldiyal, Mallot Sangarr etc. He said that besides tents 9731 beds were also distributed among affected families in the district.
He said that these tents and beds were provided by Pakistan Army, NGOs and from local people of Pakistan. He said 424 truckloads of relief goods including warm clothes, food stuff and blankets were also distributed among affectees in Sudhan Gali, Hattian Bala, Chamb, Sarara, Challana and Khallna villages.
ISPR spokesman said that mobile surgical teams and field hospitals of Pakistan Army and NGOs had hold 38 minor and two major operations in Bagh while they treated 486 patients and provided them medicines and other items. In Rawlakot doctors of Pakistan Army and different NGOs and volunteers held 24 minor and two major operations besides treating 315 patients and providing them medicines.
