Dr Arif Rasheed Khawaja, consultant surgeon Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center will be presenting a paper on the topic of "Breast Conserving Surgery- A New Concept in Pakistan" in International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research (INCTR) annual meeting to be held at Chennai on 10th December.
The paper is based on his study of patients that have been followed up for over 2 years with early stage breast cancer who had breast-conserving surgery. This will also convince more and more surgeons to accept and practice the operation and prevent women from having mutilating operations on their breast.
As per study of Dr Khawaja, the results match the outcome of more developed world. This paper was presented by Dr Khawaja Rasheed as a poster in 4th "Future of Breast Cancer" conference held at Bermuda in July 2005.
