All the opposition parties, including Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), have decided to boycott the all parties conference (APC) convened by President General Pervez Musharraf, as we cannot ratify those decisions that have already been taken by the government without taking the opposition into confidence.
MMA chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad stated this while talking to newsmen after delivering the sermon of Jumatul Wida at Wahdat Road ground here on Friday. MMA also observed Friday as 'Youm-e-Isteghfar'.
"After the devastating earthquake, we had asked the government to call an APC, but instead of responding positively to our demand, a meeting of the National Security Council was called. Even the parliament was not taken into confidence on the situation emerging after the earthquake," he said.
"Inviting the US and Nato forces in the earthquake affected areas is a blunder on the part of the government," Qazi said and added the US and Nato forces would replicate their role in Azad Kashmir and NWFP and would also launch a campaign to check activities of religious workers, who are performing their duties voluntarily.
Criticising the government policy, he said that donors from North America have sent consignment of medicines to Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, which has already network and experience of field hospitals, but the government did not release the consignment.
Earlier, addressing the Juma congregation, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that the recent earthquake was outcome of our collective sins and misdeeds as well as government policies. General Pervez Musharraf, while addressing an art college function, not only greatly admired performance of dance there, but also vowed to open more art colleges in the country.
Qazi also said that 'the earthquake was a warning from Allah, therefore, we must beg pardon of our sins'.
