Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, acting chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N) has asked the opposition parties not to participate in the All Parties Conference convened by the ruling Muslim League at the behest of General Pervez Musharraf and put pressure on the rulers to let the civilian government to do rehabilitation and reconstruction task.
In his message from Kot Lakhpat prison Javed Hashmi said that APC was being convened to hide their failures and rulers wanted to hold an APC on the corpses of ill-fated people who are still buried under the debris. He said that our foreign policy proved a total failure as we would not get even ten percent of required money even our friends did not provide grant whole heatedly.
He said that it is a duty of armed forces to help the people in disaster and calamity but it is not a duty of armed forces to rule the nation. He stressed the need for taking the parliament into confidence for rehabilitation of the quake-hit people and reconstruction of their shelters.
However Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi Deputy Secretary General of PPP said that opposition had suggested the convening of All Parties Conference but rulers delayed this idea however it is good augury that at last government agreed to hold APC to yank the nation out of disaster.
He said that rehabilitation work would take five to ten years and it would not be possible unless entire nation would stand for rebuilding of affected areas. He said that opposition had given positive response since October 8 when the calamity hit the Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
