The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan has announced cash grant of Rs 25,000 for all the quake-affected families so that they can make a temporary shelter of lead sheets in order to protect themselves from chilly weather.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday; Sardar Sikandar, in a meeting with Dr Hafeez Pasha, UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Assistant Administrator cum Director Regional Bureau For Asia Pacific, urged for providing shelter to people in far-flung areas along the Line of Control before the start of snowfall.
The AJK PM said that the rehabilitation activities are in full swing and committees have been set up on village level in order to provide relief and compensation to the affected people at their places.
The committees include respective members of the Legislative Assembly and one representative each from Revenue Department and Pakistan Army.
Sikandar Hayat said that the physical and financial losses caused by the earthquake were beyond our imagination. However, he added, the relief and support provided by the Pakistan Army, international organisations and various countries in this disastrous situation, kept our moral high and we were able to provide treatment and other facilities to the affected people.
The AJK PM appreciated the patience showed by the people in the difficult situation and said that it was because of this that no law and order problem arose.
