The Punjab government is actively considering establishing an "Export Trade Centre" for women folk in the Province. The work on this proposed project would be carried out in near future.
The products being produced by women folk engaged with business would be displayed at this proposed export trade centre for exhibition as attracting general public and foreigners.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday that apart from this the government has set aside Rs 25 crore for providing soft loans to the women entrepreneurs in the Punjab.
The main purpose of this programme was to provide solid footing to the businesswomen, for minimise financial problems as well as to enable them to establish small-scale industries and upgrade their existing industrial units in the Punjab.
The present regime has focused its special attention on encouraging the women entrepreneurs to play their instrumental role in business sector and enhance the volume of exports in the Punjab.
A large number of women folk are already engaged with different business fields and are playing their dominating role in the readymade garments and fashion designing in the Punjab.
In addition to this, government had already initiated many programmes of social welfare of women folk and had kicked off various income generating programmes for women community aimed at providing solid footing and enabling them to earn their livelihood in a respectable way in the Punjab sources added.
The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) has adopted adequate steps for providing assistance and guidance to the women entrepreneurs for obtaining loan for setting up their business in the Punjab sources added.
