The Technical Committee of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has decided to spare 10 beds in each ward (total of 100 beds) of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) to treat patients shifted from areas affected by October 8 devastating earthquake.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by DUHS Vice Chancellor Professor Masood Hameed Khan, stated a release here on Monday. The meeting decided that all costly medicines, implants and other necessary items required for those patients would be provided by the CHK, while after initial reporting in emergency department, patients would be shifted to their concerned wards.
It was also decided to keep all 13 patents shifted from Islamabad in Orthopaedic Complex and later will be shifted to the wards according to their injuries. During the meeting, senior doctors reviewed steps for the treatment of earthquake injured.
In the meeting, Professor Masood Hameed Khan said that patients, kept at operation theatre complex, were not being handled properly. Doctors and paramedical staff were not available in the complex and staff of Lyari General Hospital was performing there.
He said efforts were being made to provide better care and facilities to the patients there. The meeting was attended by CHK Medical Superintendent Dr Kaleem Butt, Professor Younus Soomro, Professor Mir Mohammad Dahri, Professor Naheed Sultan, Professor Manzar all efforts were made, Saleem, Professor Mushtaq Qureshi, Professor Shafiq-ur-Rehman and Professor Dost Mohammad Afridi.-PR
