Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said here on Tuesday the government is providing a very conducive climate of investment in the country, as we believe in providing a level playing field to investors, local as well as foreign.
"Privatisation and deregulation are the major planks of our economic policies," the Prime Minister said, adding, "transparency and efficiency are the hallmarks of our policy of privatisation."
He was talking to a four-member delegation of Telenor headed by Telenor Pakistan chairman Arve Johnsen here at the Prime Minister House.
Shaukat Aziz termed telecom sector's opening to the private sector as a major success story, adding member of cellphone subscribers growing rapidly with expanding middle-class.
The Prime Minister also appreciated Telenor, which undertook relief works in association with Norwegian Red Cross Society in Pakistan to help the October 8 quake victims, besides donating Rs 15 million to the President's Relief Fund and 2000 relief packages to the government.
The Prime Minister hoped the Pakistani nation would come out of this tragedy even stronger, despite the fact that its magnitude was greater than tsunami.
The Telenor group informed the Prime Minister it operates mobile business in 18 countries including Pakistan and is expanding its business in Pakistan in the wake of growing opportunities.
Information technology minister Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and minister of state Ali Asjad Malhi also present on the occasion.
