If history is to serve as witness, video-to-game adaptations have usually been colossal failures, stretched out across a decade. With this 2016 reaching its end, avid video games fan are waiting for the likes of assassins creed the film and a new treat – owing to the benefit of the doubt – a cinematic rendition of the popular video game franchise ‘Gears Of War’.
Earlier this year at the E3 2016 conference an announcement was made on a live stream of the next sequel in the game series ‘Gears of War 4’ that is set to be released soon for Xbox 360. Universal and Microsoft have emerged as joint collaborators of the film adaptation. The development of the game has been handed over to ‘The Coalition’ studios – who make Gears of War games – and their head Rod Fergusson was quoted as saying that they had done comics and novels in the past but an opportunity to be working Universal to make a film adaptation was simply a brilliant idea.
No directors or writers have been named for the project, but according to reports producer of the famed stoner-comedy ‘Ted’, Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark – Rise of the Planet of the Apes game – will more than likely be involved. Furthermore, Fergusson also added ‘As a way to support the franchise, the only next logical step was to make the movie.
