The groundbreaking ceremony of country's first Tools, Dies and Moulds (TDM) Centre will be held at Karachi in December.
This was decided at a meeting held at the head office of Technology Up gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) here with Federal Minister, Jahangir Khan Tareen in the chair. Chairman TUSDEC, Almas Hyder, Managing Director, Suhael Ahmed and other officials of the company attended the meeting.
Speaking on this occasion, Jahangir Tareen said that establishment of the TDM centre in Karachi would be a great support to country's engineering sector. He hoped that this facility being set up at a cost of Rs 450 million would not only help cut the import bill for dies and moulds but also increase the country's engineering sector exports.
Tareen said that similar TDM facilities would be set up in other industrial towns like Gujranwala. He said that a meeting would be held in Islamabad on November 8, to review the arrangements for the establishment of TDM centre in Karachi.
Meanwhile, a delegation comprising the executive committee members of Tools, Dies and Moulds Centre (TDM), Karachi project has returned home after visiting Singapore, Malaysia, Korea and Thailand.
"This was a good opportunity to learn about latest advancements in the field of engineering. We visited various universities, technical education institutes and engineering facilities in these countries," said leader of the delegation, Munir K Bana.
TDM centre project being set up by TUSDEC would provide support to country's dies and mould sector in carrying out rapid prototyping through the latest technologies like stereolithograpy, selective Laser Sintering and Rapid Tooling along with support for CAD/CAM and CNC machining.
The expected beneficiaries of TDM centre are telecom, automobiles, medical devices, home appliances, aviation and dies and moulds manufacturing sectors.
