The police officers were directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr and during the holidays.
According to handout issued on Wednesday Sindh Inspector General of Police Asad Jehangir Khan instructed the acting Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi, Mushtaq Shah to thoroughly examine with the help of bomb disposal squad all sensitive mosques, Imambargahs, public places and major parking areas.
He urged people to immediately inform Madadgar-15 if they find any suspected vehicle, parcel, bag etc, the handout added.
The IGP reviewing security plan regarding Eid-ul-Fitr, ordered for practical steps to activate advance intelligence collection units at town and police station levels, so that prevention of negative activities could be monitored in respective jurisdictions.
According to the plan, police personnel patrolling in mobiles and on motorcycles would keep a close vigil on mosques and other religious places under their jurisdiction.
The police personnel were asked to consult with mosques' management of their respective jurisdictions and volunteers should be deputed to check entry of suspected people in the premises.
The IGP ordered that the police personnel should not harass peaceful and innocent persons on snap checking and showing of unnecessary documents not to be demanded.
Special police parties would be deputed at reporting centres in all major shopping centres throughout the Chand Raat.
The IGP ordered steps for random snap checking under supervision of senior police officers across the city.
