Deputy Inspector General of Police Multan Range has chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the protection of life and property of the people on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. In this regard, district administration Multan has also beefed up security in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
Police spokesman told newsmen here on Thursday that DSPs and SHOs of all police stations had been directed to increase patrolling in their respective jurisdictions on the occasion of Eid holidays to control the law and order situation.
At least 1,000 police, Elite force officials, mobile squad personnel besides the traffic cops, would remain alert.
Additional security staff, including police, Punjab constabulary and private force have been deployed at mosques, shopping centers and other crowded places to keep strict vigil over the law breakers.
The authorities have also set up more check posts for security along with smoothening of the traffic flow at busy shopping centers, including Hussain Agahi, Saddar Bazaar, Chowk Bazar, Kalay Mandi and Haram-gate.
The DPO Munir Ahmed Chishti said the mobile squad patrolling had been intensified during the peak hours and foot patrolling in bazaars and shopping markets.
Anti-car lifting squad has also been directed to carry out snap checking of suspected vehicles and parking lots, which should also be kept under strict surveillance.
All SPs and sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) had been made personally responsible for the checking of security arrangements.
According to the police high ups, the SHOs of all the police stations would remain in touch with the SPs concerned round the clock and they have been strictly directed to ensure patrolling in the sensitive areas and around the leading shopping centres of the City.
Scores of police officials have been deputed at the bus stands, railway stations to provide protection to the passengers, travelling towards their native towns. The local transporters have also been asked to cooperate with the police.
The traffic police have made special arrangements to avoid any traffic mess and all the traffic police officials including the senior officials have been deployed at the city roads to keep the things under control.
In this regard, special security arrangements had also been made in big cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan and Faisalabad.
