Shahbaz Sharif said that his elder brother Nawaz Sharif is waiting for his passport, so that he could travel to London in connection with the treatment of his ailing son.
He was talking to BBC following reports that Pakistan Government has allowed Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister and head of his own faction of Muslim League to travel to London in connection of the medical treatment of his son.
Exiled opposition leader Nawaz Sharif these days is living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after he was deposed on October 12, 1999, by the present ruler.
Shahbaz further said as soon as Nawaz gets the passport and other travel documents are completed he will arrive London.
Responding to a question Shahbaz said Nawaz applied for the passport long ago. "You may recall that a few months ago Aftab Sherpao said that they were issuing passport. But then he became silent", he pointed out.
When Shahbaz's attention was drawn to the statement of Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in which he stated that neither Nawaz Sharif family has contacted him nor has he received any orders from the Pakistani Government in this connection, Shahbaz remarked, "I am not authorised to make any comment on the statement of Ambassador Sahib".
But the situation is that Nawaz Sharif applied for the passport to the Pakistani Consulate a few months ago, he insisted.
To a question whether Nawaz Sharif himself contacted Pakistan Government or did the Saudi Government talked to Pakistan Government for the new passport, Shahbaz said he cannot tell the details and added "I don't have all knowledge of it. But it is quite obvious that the Saudi Government is fully aware of all the developments".
