He said this important sector has been experiencing economic stagnation for quite some time mainly because of local problems.
The governor expressed the confidence that the new District Government would focus on this vital sector of economic wellbeing of the people and spare no efforts in facilitating the private sector not only to revive the sick industrial units but also to encourage the new entrepreneurship for this purpose.
He stressed the need for proper training of the labour community and skill development as well as promotion of congenial working environment.
Referring to the social sector, the governor particularly mentioned the provision of clean potable water to the people, saying that President General Pervez Musharraf has set the target of ensuring access of every citizen to this basic need of life by 2007 and hoped that respective district governments would give due weightage to this subject.
Fortunately, he said, because of unique geographical position this demand could be materialised comparatively in a easier way by utilising water from the nearby Kabul River and through installation of filter plants.
The governor also expressed concern over the lack of educational facilities especially in the higher level and conceded to a point that tremendous efforts have to be made to increase the existing number of degree colleges especially for girls.
