A group of volunteer from different fields of life have designed a picture based website to locate the victims of earthquake who are under treatment in different hospitals and medical centers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The website consists pictures and complete data-base of the victims of the October 8, devastating earthquake, who are going under treatment in different hospitals and relief camps in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The former Army Chief General Aslam Baig was the chief guest in a simple but graceful ceremony of the launching the website.
Speaking on the occasion General Baig said that launching of a website to track the victims and their relatives was the need of hour. "The people who designed this website did a great job and it is noble service to people who were destroyed by the calamity", Baig said while praising the effort.
He said that the group of volunteers young men who designed the website did a splendid job. "As a matter of fact it is the great service to suffering humanity, as the affected people could find their dear relatives by virtue of this website", he added.
The coordinator of the website Faheem Ahmed said that the data collection was carried out by a group of volunteers from various fields of life who had joined their efforts under the slogan of Rohani Rishtay, as the need of this data was discovered by the volunteers from Roohani Digest/Silsilai Azeemia involved in the rescue and relief operation in the affected areas.
He said that the idea was put into operation as more volunteers joined the team with sincere dedication to the cause of providing the source of information to the families and loved one of the victims who have been brought for treatment from the affected areas to the hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The team decided to put together this data with the pictures and basic credentials of the victims to make it quickly identifiable, he added.
He said that two basis teams were launched respectively for the purpose of collecting data from the field of management of this data in user friendly PC based from. The two teams were supported by the programme management group that accursed availability of required resources, coordination with the government offices to ensure the smooth working.
In an effort to make this data quickly available to the masses the IT team has designed a website that allows access to this data-base with a common search options allowing fast and easy location of the victims. The web address for this information website is www.eqvl.info.
