University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore vice-chancellor Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad left for United States of America on an eight-day official visit to the Washington State University (WSU), Pullman (Washington).
During his visit, WSU President Dr V Lane Rawlins in a special ceremony will present WSU Alumni Achievement Award to Professor Manzoor on November 12. He is the first non-American alumnus selected for this award for his world-wide contributions in the field of veterinary sciences.
Professor Manzoor will deliver a lecture on 'Bioterrorism, A Global concern on spread of anthrax and foot and mouth diseases' on November 10. He will also hold a special meeting with the administrative staff and teachers of WSU's Veterinary College and Centers for Reproductive Biology and Biotechnology, Animal and Food Sciences.
Professor Manzoor will formally sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at a ceremony on the WSU campus to collaborate in research and education and economic development programmes.
It may be mentioned that the UVAS is also in the process to establish linkages with Massey University New Zealand, Melbourne University Australia and Putra University Malaysia.
Meanwhile, a UVAS alumnus, Dr O B Agnihotri, former deputy director of Animal Husbandry Department, U P, India, visited University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore and held a meeting with vice-chancellor Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad.
Dr Agnihotri also took a round of Outdoor Hospital, University Diagnostic Lab, Pet Center, departments of theriogenology, pharmacology, paracitology, animal nutrition and University Library.
He was a student of the College of Veterinary Sciences Lahore before partition of the Indian subcontinent.
