Germany has finalised a long-delayed deal to sell 298 surplus Leopard 2 battle tanks to Turkey, a spokesman at the German Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.
The spokesman declined to give a price for the sale, but a separate agreement in August to deliver 333 Leopard tanks to Greece was valued at 270 million euros, including maintenance and other supplementary costs.
German defence group Krauss-Maffei Wegmann will now modernise the tanks, part of the country's heavy armoured forces that were built up during the Cold War and which the government has vowed to sell or mothball.
