Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW) and Mobilink will be jointly organising "World Performing Arts Festival 2005" here between November 19 and 28, which was expected to host over 500 international artists from more than 40 countries.
Mobilink Director Customer Services Ahmad Sadik, and Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop's Fizan Peerzada and Usman Peerzada announced this during a press conference here on Friday.
Fizan Peerzada and Usman Peerzada emphasised the festival was a need to move on in day-to-day activities as well as to establish that, even with the backdrop of the largest natural disaster in our history.
"The human spirit has to be resilient and not be defeated by the sorrow and destruction caused by this tragedy. Our spirit now needs to rise as a phoenix from the rubble and ashes surrounding us, stronger and greater than ever before. It was only through this that we may pick up the pieces and craft ourselves even greater than what we were," they added.
According to them, as art was the language of the spirit and heart, it was through art brought in by the "World Performing Arts Festival 2005" that that healing of the spirit could begin. Yet, the festival would also focus on healing the structural and physical wounds that they now carry. Thus, the festival would also work fervently on gathering funds to donate towards the physical damage, rehabilitation and reconstruction of tremendous damage caused by the earthquake. Moreover, income from the first 10,000 tickets would be donated for relief funds.
Ahmad Sadik said Mobilink was committed to serving its customers better and also to promote activities that elevate human spirit, be it in sport, music culture or the arts.
"This festival serves to project Pakistan as a nation built on the principles of peace and co-operative co-existence, with the strength to withstand challenges of time and development. Entire income from a special show during the festival would be donated to the relief funds," he added.
