Abdul Razak Dawood, a prominent businessman and industrialist, resigned as Chairman of Engineering Development Board (EDB) from November 10, 2005.
He had joined the Engineering Development Board as Chairman on December 30, 2004, on specific request of Jahangir Khan Tareen, Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives. Despite his prior commitments, he agreed to shoulder the important responsibility of re-aligning and re-positioning the restructured EDB in line with emerging realities and changing international scenario.
He played a pivotal role in putting the EDB on the right track and facilitating its smooth transition as a dynamic and effective organisation with a focus and sense of purpose. Pakistan's engineering industry will always remember him as the catalyst who managed this transition.
His personal commitments and involvement as Chairman, Board of Directors of the newly-formed Pakistan Business Council have made him to resign. The Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives has accepted his resignation, with regret and sense of loss.-PR
