Sindh Minister for Health Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani said on Saturday that Sindh Health department has issued showcase notices to 100 doctors for being absent from their duties for a long time.
He said these doctors were appointed at different District Health Units and Basic Health Units throughout Sindh.
Talking to newsmen at his office, he said that process to review the casts of absent doctors has been started as today 15 doctors presented their cases before him. The minister said that the decisions have been taken with regard to provision of improved health services to masses.
Talking about present situation, he said that more than 300 Basic Health Units in entire province were non-operational or closed. All these BHUs would be made operational, he added.
He said that after completion of official procedures, the doctors who were absent from their duties for very long time, will be terminated from their services and new doctors will be appointed on the vacant posts.
He maintained that about four years ago, one-year leaves were granted to each of 300 doctors and out of them 100 doctors did not return on their duties.
The minister said that health department has also asked Secretary Health to present report about performance of School Health Services.
He said that the officials, employees and doctors of School Health Services will be appointed to quake-hit areas in different phases and no political pressure will be tolerated in this regard.
Shabbir Ahmed said that Rural Health Centers (RHCs) and Basic Health Units (BHUs), will be upgraded with public and private partnership and both will be converted into a Sindh Rural Support Programme to provide better health services to masses particularly of interior Sindh. Non-government organisations and organisations related with medical field will be given priority in this regard, he added.
