President Pakistan Muslim League and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the impact of relief goods on the part of Indian traders and industrialists would be very pleasant and we should appreciate the spirit and love of Indian delegation who has come with the relief goods.
He expressed these views here on Sunday at Wagah border while collecting Indian relief goods on eight trucks worth Rs 5.2 million, comprising blankets, clothes, medicines and other goods.
President Confederation of Indian Industry Sunil Kant Manjal handed over the relief goods to Shujaat Hussain. Lahore District Nazim Mian Amir Mehmood, Punjab Revenue Minister Gul Hameed Khan Rokari, MNA Anwar Ali Cheema, Federation of Pakistan Chambers President Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, former FPCCI president Iftikhar Ali Malik, Saarc Chambers Of Commerce vice chairman Jamil Mehboob Magoon, Javed Iqbal Chaudhry, Rashid Akhtar, Rashid Saleem and many other prominent traders and industrialists were present on the occasion.
Shujaat thanked the Indian delegation on behalf of people of Pakistan, army and Nazim Lahore and invited Indian traders and industrialists to visit Lahore and Islamabad.
Indian delegation leader Sunil Kant Manjal accepted the invitation and also thanked Shujaat Hussain for receiving them at the border. He said the Indian traders and industrialists were with the people of Pakistan in this difficult hour and they would send more relief goods. He offered the occasion Indian experts team to help and support rehabilitation work in quake-hit areas.
Earlier, during a visit to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shujaat Hussain said that the measures taken by the LCCI for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims were laudable and has no match in the history of the country. "The whole nation worked hand in hand with the government at this hour of national crisis," he added.
He promised to the LCCI president that he would again visit the Lahore Chamber soon and discuss problems confronting the Chamber in detail. He also assured Mian Shafqat of his full co-operation for the early solution of the problems being faced by the business community.
The PML president said One-Family Support Programme is a good programme and the government would soon give the LCCI members a detailed briefing about it so that maximum number of people could join hands with the government in this hour of need.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali said that the Chamber had already informed the Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi about the tent-city being developed by the LCCI.
The Chamber was is doing its best to provide maximum help to the earthquake affectees and the effort would continue till the settlement of all the affected persons, he added.
