Despite poor visibility an MI-17 helicopter of Pakistan Army Aviation flew special sorties to provide fuel for vehicles of earthquake victims stranded in the mountains of Naran Valley on Saturday.
According to ISPR, a large number of earthquake victims have started migration from hamlets at hilltops following snowfall on the mountains of quake-hit areas of NWFP. In Naran Valley so far 1.5 feet snow has been recorded forcing affectees to relocate in the plains in down country.
Due to acute shortage of diesel, hundred of vehicles with migrating families on board were stranded in the mountainous region. In spite of inclement weather army aviation helicopter successfully airlifted 2,000 litres diesel: The fuel was provided to the vehicles free of cost.
The construction of shelters for quake affectees continued in full swing and Engineers Directorate of Pakistan Army dispatched 1,000 more CGI sheets for construction of shelters. Army engineers are imparting training to volunteers who have joined army troops currently engaged in rescue, relief and rehabilitation activities in affected areas of the province. The volunteers after getting necessary know-how will work with army troops and locals in areas 3,000 feet above sea level.
