The spread of epidemics in the earthquake affected areas have caused the threat to human and animal life besides jeopardised the ongoing relief activities in these areas as relief workers were making efforts to return after death of relief worker.
According to details a relief worker namely Muhammad Israr belonging to International Muslim Movement expired on Sunday in PIMS Islamabad due to some unknown disease, he established during relief work, while another aid worker Muhammad Sajid is under treatment in Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi.
The relief worker who died in hospital, was taking part in the operation in Beri Gala, a town of District Bagh of AJK, where he was distributing relief goods among the victims. He got some viral infection and was rushed to PIMS for treatment where he breathed his last.
Hundreds of dead bodies are still under the debris of buildings which caused the brake out of epidemic diseases in the calamity hit areas. There is also little possibility of spreading out such diseases in the other parts of the country through the people who are coming from devastated areas in recent days, a medical expert told this scribe.
Muhammad Sajid who got viral infection during relief work, said that there was need of hour to take special measures in the affected areas to control epidemic diseases.
