Vehicle owners asked to get original registration files

The owners of motor vehicles, whose vehicles have been registered against registration series 'LXZ', have been advised to approach the Motor Registering Authority (MRA) Lahore, Sheikh Imtiaz Ahmad at 2-A Farid Kot House Lahore for getting original registration files of their vehicles.
The Excise & Taxation Office Lahore, in pursuance of approval accorded by the provincial government, has started return of original files to the motor vehicle owners registered against different old registration series from LH to LXZ.
The Director Excise & Taxation, Region-C Lahore, Chaudhry Masood ul Haq told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the decision was taken in the interest of motoring public, as complaints regarding missing of registration files were pouring in. Apart from this, the return of original files registered against old series would also improve official working in E&T office through provision of congenial atmosphere, he added.
Although, the provincial government had approved the scheme on 25-10-2005, but the first file has been returned to Khalid Pervaiz, the owner of vehicle registered against LXZ series on Friday after fulfilment of all procedural formalities.
About the procedure adopted by the department for return of original files, Chaudhry Masood said the owners applying for obtaining original files were required to get the vehicles transferred in their names and ensure that they have paid all the dues/token tax up to 30-06-2006.
According to him, the department would keep a photocopy of the original file in its record while the owners would also be required to present the original file before the competent authorities at the time of transfer of title of ownership of the vehicle.
Moreover, the motoring public has hailed the decision of provincial government pertaining to return of original files of vehicles registered against old series from LH to LXZ.
It may be mentioned that the Punjab government has earlier started return of original files of vehicles registered against newly registered vehicles from year 2001.
