The 536th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak began soon after the arrival of the Sikh Yatrees from Hassan Abdal by special trains here on Sunday
More than 4,000 Indian Sikh Yatrees arrived from Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hassan Abdal after performing their religious rites and rituals by four special trains.
They were received at the local railway station by DCO Fazeel Asghar, DPO Tahir Alam Khan, District Nazim Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Tahsil Nazim, Shahzad Khalid Khan Moon, Jhangir Akbar, Deputy Administrator, ETPB and elites of the city.
The officials of the ETPB and the Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (PGPC) greeted the guests at the railway station.
Soon after the arrival of Indian Sikh Yatreès in Nankana Sahib the birthday celebrations of Babe Guru Nanak touched the climax as Nankana roads, bazaars and streets were profusely decorated.
The leader of the visiting Indian Sikh Yatrees Makhan Singh Nangal while talking to APP said that he welcomed the opening of three points at LoC and urged India to open the remaining two points so that the people of occupied Kashmir could take part in the rehabilitation work in the earthquake areas in AJK.
Earlier about 2,000 Sikh Yatrees from UK, America, Canada, Afghanistan, UAE, Middle East and other countries have already arrived here to participate in the celebrations.
About 10,000 Sikh Yatrees would also take part in the celebrations including Hindus from Swat, Mangora, Sindh province, NWFP and other parts of the Pakistan.
More than 16,000 Indian and Pakistan Sikh Yatrees besides foreign countries would take out Paleky (Silver) procession of Guru Granth Sahib on November 15.
