'Akhuwat', a social organisation, will launch 'Qarz-e-Hasna' scheme in earthquake-hit region so that the affected people could restart their business to earn their livelihood.
This was stated by Akhuwat Chairman Dr Amjad Saqib while talking to APP here on Sunday. He said that initially the scheme would be launched in Muzaffarabad next month, and for this purpose 'Akhuwat' had collected donations of Rs 1.5 million against the set target of Rs 5 million.
He said that after assessing the response in Muzaffarabad the scheme would later on be extended to other affected areas of Azad Jammu Kashmir and NWFP.
Amjad said that 'Akhuwat' collects donations solely from local donors, philanthropists and well-off people of the society and utilises it in an organised manner to help poor families.
The organisation had distributed loans of Rs 70 million among 6,500 families during last four years. The families affiliated with 'Akhuwat' have also collected Rs 0.1 million in donations and deposited it in President's Relief Fund for Earthquake victims, he added.
He said that loans would be given to aspirant affected persons up to Rs 30,000 per family without any mark-up or interest.
