The opposition took the government to task on the issue of state terrorism in Balochistan, saying it has failed to maintain law and order situation in the province.
An opposition member Amanullah Khandrani criticised the government on formation and decisions of several federal committees for solution of Balochistan issue but no concrete result was achieved by it.
He slammed the government stance saying that 13,500 regular army troops, 450 FC men were deployed in Bugti area, which is worst example of state terrorism.
The Senator said, "is Dera Bugti near Siachin glaciers or Kargil for which government has stationed tanks and mortar guns and helicopters there. After all whom military government wants to conquer?" Khandrani added that the government was repeatedly following the policy to destroy Bugtis, and NGOs were silent and no human rights organisation has taken the notice of the issue.
He said the government demands human rights from India for Kashmiris while on the other hand military government itself has initiated worst kind of violation in Dera Bugti.
He demanded of the government to solve the issue at the earliest, and asked international organisations to develop pressure on the government to stop state terrorism in Balochistan.
Leader of the Opposition Raza Rabbani condemned the government saying that Balochistan issue has been discussed hundred times in the house and parliamentary committees were formed and even after their recommendations the government had failed to provide solution of Balochistan issue.
He said that opposition fully condemns state terrorism initiated against Bugtis in Balochistan, adding the government had resorted to 'lathi charge' on the occasion of opening of LoC and warned serous repercussions from political sections of Kashmir.
However, Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad negated the issue, saying that there was no life risk involved for Nawab Bugti and sidelined the issue adding, "what that is going in Balochistan is a matter of law and order maintenance".
Senator Hameedullah Jan criticised the high-handedness of police department, saying that a person Haji Khan, who was handed over to police in Khyber Agency on charge of addiction, was deprived from eyesight when released and had become mad due to physical torture initiated against him by police department.
He demanded of the government to hand over the case to Senate's Human Rights Committee and called for strict action against the culprits.
Dr Khalid Ranjha who was in chair directed Senator Hameedullah to look into the matter personally as he himself is a member of the committee. Wasim Sajjad recommended that the issue must be recommended to the concerned ministry.
Ruling Senator Gulshan raised the issue of negligence of Capital Development Authority as accident of local journalists took place due to non-installation of protective fences on both sides of the road.
She demanded of the government to take notice of the issue and announce a compensation package for the deceased person.
Local journalists also protested in front of the Parliament building holding banners and placards "CDA Murderer" and demanded of the government to take strict action against those responsible.
Abdullah Riar from he opposition said that the PM Office has issued waterproof tents procurement directions worth Rs 1.8 billion but instead substandard tents were being obtained. He demanded thorough probe into the issue.
He criticised actions of Port Qasim Authority as Rs 5 billion were deposited in banks on 0.9 percent interest rate for 5 years. Instead of repeated directions, the Authority forwarded no report to the ministry of ports and shipping on the issue.
Senator Gulshan from the treasury tried to sideline the issue giving lame excuses.
