Senior Pakistani and French officials on Monday discussed co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, arms control and non-proliferation.
Talks between French and Pakistani officials focused on issues of global and regional security and matters pertaining to the United Nations including reform of the Security Council.
The French delegation led by Stanislas Lefbvre de Laboulaye, deputy secretary-general and director-general for political and security affairs and Tariq Osman Hyder, additional secretary (UN&EC) agreed to institutionalise bilateral working-level dialogue on security matters and further enhance engagement in areas of mutual interest. "The talks held in a cordial atmosphere," the statement said and added, "the issue of co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy also came under discussion."
The statement said talks enabled both the sides to develop a better understanding of each other's position and explore further possible avenues for co-operation in these areas.
