The Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (TMA), in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), is working on a proposal to develop effluent treatment plants with a view to complying with the local and international environmental standards.
The establishment of effluent recycling plants would result in increased exports of towels from Pakistan. The IFC's technical assistance, in collaboration with an active business membership organisation, is aimed at offering creative and innovative business services and solutions.
TMA Central Executive Committee member M. Muzzammil Husain told the Business Recorder here on Monday that Haraled Fchonberger, an IFC consultant would hold a meeting here with the TMA members on November 17 to brief them about the project.
According to the programme, chalked out by the TMA, the IFC consultant would visit two towel manufacturing factories daily until November 23 to get environment effluent data to enable him make necessary assessment. Later, he would brief the TMA members about his findings and give details about the implementation of the project, he added. The assessments were part of the feasibility study for establishing micro-recycling plants, he said.
