Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain on Monday withdrew a contempt of the National Assembly notice against Pakistan Peoples' Party Parliamentarians MNA, reviewing his decision in view of the treasury and opposition lawmakers' request thereon.
"I can even dis-member you, if you will not mend your ways," hurled the chair this warning when Ghulam Murtaza Satti declined to resume his seat, insisting on being given the mike on a point of order.
The MNA walked out of the House after the chair asked Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Niazi to bring a motion of contempt of the House notice against Satti.
This unexpected situation emerged when the members as well as the journalists were preparing to leave for their respective destinations. Apart from this, the over two hours' proceedings had been by and large smooth.
Both the chair and the lawmaker were locked in a verbal bout, as the members from both sides of the aisle helplessly witnessed arguments and counter-arguments.
Towards the fag end of the 29th session, the chair gave floor to Hamidul Haq Haqqani, prompting Satti to rise in his chair and protest over what he alleged being denied a point of order.
On being continuously ignored, Satti had a string of loud arguments with the chair, before he made an exit from the House.
Amir Hussain, who initially looked bent upon getting moved a motion, reviewed his decision after Liaquat Baloch, Naveed Qamar, Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Haider Abbas Rizvi successfully persuaded him.
"I expect from all members to observe the rules and ensure discipline and decorum in the House," he maintained.
The chair announced to withdraw the notice and expressed the hope that the assembly would complete its tenure. By the time, the speaker reviewed his decision, Murtaza Satti returned to the House.
