The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday dismissed from service Sohail Ahmed Baber, Deputy Registrar of Supreme Court of Pakistan on account of misconduct.
The action was taken following complaints received by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to the effect that the said officer had been indulging in activities inappropriate for an officer of the Court, said a press release.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan caused an inquiry conducted into the allegations of misconduct through the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
The inquiry report found Sohail Ahmed Baber, Deputy Registrar guilty of misconduct.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan granted the right of personal hearing to the delinquent officer and found his explanation unsatisfactory.
Consequently, the Chief Justice of Pakistan imposed with immediate effect the major penalty of dismissal from service on Sohail Ahmed Baber, Deputy Registrar.
On complaints received by the Supreme Court that Muhammad Ilyas, Protocol Officer is indulging in activities which are impermissible under the code of conduct and Rules of the Supreme Court and unbecoming of an officer, the Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered suspension from service of Muhammad Ilyas with an immediate effect.
As such Muhammad Ilyas is put under suspension and further disciplinary proceedings will continue against the officer.
