Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said the bomb blast outside the PIDC House here on Tuesday was an act of terrorism, and aimed at harming the law and order. He was talking to journalists during a visit to the site of the explosion.
Two people were killed and 15 others injured in the incident. One of the injured is serious, and has been operated upon in the hospital.
The governor said the reports available suggested that explosive of more than five kg was planted in a car. Pointing towards the Cricket Test and international football matches scheduled next month, he said the matches would be played, Insh-Allah.
Dr Ibad said it appears to be a conspiracy to mar peaceful environment. He made it clear that such acts of terrorism would not affect the normal activities and the government would face this challenge.
He said: "In the past as well we have faced such a situation with the support of the people and we will do so in future as well. There was no need to be discouraged or get panicky as this is a world-wide phenomenon."
The governor said: "We are optimistic that we have the capability of dealing with the situation as we have proved by nabbing very trained and organised gangs involved in such activities."
He declared that those involved in this act of terrorism would also be brought to justice.
