Two people have been killed and 15 injured in a blast outside the PIDC building in downtown Karachi on Tuesday morning. This was stated by Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister Salahuddin Haider. He was talking to APP during a visit to the site of the bomb blast. The device was planted in a car parked there.
"Only two people have been confirmed dead and 15 injured," the Adviser said. Ten of the injured were taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and the remaining five to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
He said that seven cars were burnt in the incident, including the one in which the device was planted. Salahuddin Haider was of the view that the motive behind the blast was clear and that it was aimed at destroying the peace of Karachi, which had been progressing very well.
He pointed out that the city was moving ahead towards the economic development and naturally the enemies of the country do not like this as their intentions were to hamper this.
The Adviser also pointed out that only two days ago President Musharraf had said that because of the measures taken by the government there are no terrorist acts taking place in the country for one-and-a-half years.
"Naturally such elements wanted to retaliate and tell the government that their presence is still there," he remarked.
Salahuddin Haider stressed that the nation and the people should condemn such elements and the acts of terrorism.
Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Local Government Wasim Akhtar also visited the site of the bomb blast. He condemned the activities of those who want to mar the law and order in the metropolis.
A leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Ms Nasreen Jalil also visited the site of the bomb blast and condemned the incident.
