Export Promotion Bureau of Pakistan (EPB) Chairman Tariq Ikram has said that commercial courts were functioning successfully and settling the trade disputes of exporters in the country.
These commercial courts were functioning in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, he said while talking to Business Recorder here on Tuesday at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The EPB chairman said that aim of setting up of these commercial courts was to settle the trade disputes promptly.
He disclosed that the Expo Centre Lahore, having facilities of hotel, IT Tower, and shopping arcade, being completed at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion, would be ready by December 2006.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which was scheduled earlier, has been delayed due to devastating earthquake and now it is expected to be held in December this year, he added.
Tariq Ikram revealed that in last six year 85 percent increase in export had been achieved, showing the increase of more than 2.5 billion dollars. The EPB Chairman stressed upon the exporter community that they should explore non-traditional markets for further increasing the export, adding that quality and standard should be ensured for competing in the global marker.
