A meeting of the NWFP Pakistan Muslim League (PML), held here under the chairmanship of its President Engr. Amir Muqam, condemned the formation of forward bloc in the party and expressed full confidence in the leadership of Chaudry Shujaat Hussain.
Briefing newsmen about the meeting here at the PML Secretariat, Minister of State for Water and Power and PML NWFP President Engr Amir Muqam said the PML members in NWFP strongly condemn formation of forward bloc in the party.
He said the office-bearers and members of PML in the Erontier province would not extend any support to the dissidents and they have full confidence in the leadership of Chaudhry Shujjat Hussain.
He said District Nazims belonging to PML were called to discuss future course of action to strengthen the party in these districts.
The meeting also passed a resolution appreciating the efforts made by the federal government, Army, NWFP government and NGOs for providing relief to the earthquake affected people. About the decisions, Amir Muqam and PML General Secretary MPA Mushtaq Ghani, said the meeting decided to expedite campaign for collecting funds for President's Relief Fund.
It was also decided that all the District Nazims belonging to Khushhal Pakistan Panel (KPP) of PML would jointly visit earthquake affected areas and distribute relief goods. Similarly, it was also decided that all the office-bearers would spend two days in a week in quake-hit areas and monitor relief and rehabilitation work.
About by-elections in Lakki Marwat to be held on December 10, he said the PML would field Salim Saifullah as its candidate.
When asked about relief activities, he said the federal government has provided Rs 4 billion to NWFP for paying compensation to affectees. Similarly, he said, the Punjab government has also provided relief goods worth up to Rs 2 billion. Earlier, while talking to District Nazims, Amir Muqam asked them to keep proper liaison with the people and concentrate on resolution of masses problems.
