The Sindh Assembly will meet on Friday at 9:00 am. In the absence of Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussein Shah, Deputy Speaker Rahila Tiwana will act as speaker and conduct the proceedings.
Earthquake in the northern Pakistan, rehabilitation and relief operations, law and order situation in Karachi and slowed down developmental activities among other burning issues would be taken up by the opposition.
The opposition has chalked out its strategy to corner treasury members on these issues and would like to know how the money collected for the rehabilitation of the earthquake-affected people would be spent and how its account would be maintained.
The opposition had already asked the government to adopt a transparent system for incurring expenditure so that aid giving agencies are encouraged in coming up with more aid.
Sources said that they were not satisfied with what the provincial government had been doing to improve law and order situation in Sindh. They have demanded of the government to come up with the latest statistics on reported cases of heinous nature, including kidnapping for ransom, killing of political rivals, vehicle snatching at gun point, dacoities and robberies outside banks.
The recent bomb blast outside the PIDC building on Tuesday and security lapse on the part of law-enforcement personnel is likely to be raised by the opposition for detailed discussion. They would want to know the exact identity of the three alleged bombers arrested in Karachi.
Since the treasury and the opposition have agreed to accept Tiwana in the seat of the speaker, therefore, there is no likelihood of any protest on her presiding over the session.
