The Punjab government is actively considering establishing an "Export Trade Centre" for womenfolk in the province. The work on this proposed project would be carried out in the near future.
The products being produced by women entrepreneurs would be displayed at this proposed export trade centre for exhibition for attracting general public and foreigners.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that apart from this, the government has set aside Rs 250 million for providing soft loans to the women entrepreneurs in the Punjab.
The main purpose of this programme was to provide solid footing to the businesswomen to minimise their financial problems as well as to enable them to establish small-scale industries and upgrade their existing industrial units in the province.
SPECIAL ATTENTION: The present regime has focused its special attention on encouraging the women entrepreneurs to play their instrumental role in business sector and enhance the volume of exports in the province. A large number of women are already engaged in different business fields and are playing dominating role in readymade garments and fashion designing in the province.
In addition to this, the government had already initiated many programmes of social welfare of the womenfolk and had kicked off various income-generating programmes for them aimed at enabling them to earn their livelihood in a respectable way in the province, sources added.
The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) has adopted adequate steps for providing assistance and guidance to the women entrepreneurs for obtaining loan for setting up their business in the province, sources added.
