The Universal Children's Day was marked here on Sunday, as elsewhere. Community Development Department of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) made arrangements to celebrate the event at Safari Park.
On the occasion solidarity was expressed with the children affected in the wake of the October 8 earthquake in Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
The Day's entry fee of Rs five per head was also donated towards the President's Earthquake Relief Fund.
Various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) set up their stalls. These included Sub-i-Nau and Azad Foundation.
Sindh Social Welfare Department had also set up its stall on the occasion.
Pet show, bird show, snake show, magic show as well as baby show were organised as part of the day-long activities.
In the evening a candle lighting ceremony was also held to express solidarity with the earthquake-affected children.
Meanwhile, a statement of Azad Foundation, which is working for the betterment of especially the street children, said it set up a medical camp which also provided free hepatitis and blood group tests to the visitors.
Some 30 children from Azad Foundation's Khudadad Colony and Saddar Centres for street children, also participated in the day-long programmes.
