Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Information, Salahuddin Haider has said that the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) deserved a status of university.
"The Institute is imparting high quality education for training and producing top class management accountants who play a vital role in the development of the country," he pointed out, adding that it satisfied all the criteria to be awarded a status of a university.
He was addressing an inaugural ceremony of the educational exhibition organised by ICMAP Karachi Branch Council at a hotel on Sunday.
He said he would take up the matter with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan.
Emphasising the significance of education, the Advisor said that proper education in accordance with the requirements of various sectors could make possible the achievement of professional competence, which this country badly needs.
Salahuddin Haider said that media could also play a crucial part in promotion of proper education by creating awareness and focusing on various aspects of education as witnessed in the western countries.
Talking about the challenges faced by the present government for improving the quality of education, he said that private schools, colleges and institutes, which had sprung up in every other street and house need to be properly monitored under a well-devised plan.
Finance Controller of Pakistan and TNT Express World-wide, Muhammad Arif Nara, presenting the keynote address, highlighted various aspects of education.
He underlined the need for holding of events, which could attract people to acquire professional education and help them in choosing right career. In this regard he appreciated the step of ICMAP for arranging an excellent exhibition.
Earlier, the Advisor, Salahuddin Haider, went round various stalls and enquired the stall owners about their products.
A number of domestic as well as foreign universities, colleges and institutes, and related organisations set up stalls in the exhibition.
Chairman ICMAP's Karachi Branch Council Javed Mansha, former president of the Institute Sher Malik and others also addressed the ceremony which was attended by prominent businessmen and representatives of various organisations besides students of the ICMAP.
