The existing computerised system installed in all the Collectorates would be upgraded by the end of December, and CBR is taking necessary measures in this regard.
This was stated by Collector Sales Tax and Federal Excise Nazim Salim while addressing a meeting at the LCCI here on Wednesday. The LCCI Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra, LCCI former presidents Iftikhar Ali Malik, Sheikh Mohammad Asif and Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman also spoke on the occasion.
Nazim Saleem maintained that latest technology is necessary for ideal working so realising this fact, latest computerised system is being installed in all the Collectorates. Talking about adjustment note, he said that procedure of adjustment is being completed after complete satisfaction. He added that objection memos were issued in only 5 or 6 percent cases.
Addressing on the occasion, the LCCI VP Aftab Ahmad Vohra said that the lawmakers do not keep in mind the problems of illiterate people while making taxation laws, as literacy rate is very low in the country and it create difficulties for the people to understand these laws.
He pointed out that in the age information technology unfortunately we are not getting benefits from this revolution and lacking in IT based network. He claimed that despite computerisation in CBR, difficulties of taxpayers are further increasing due to new system. He said that commercial exporters are facing problem of non-payment of refunds due to black listing of supplier companies.
In many cases, supplier companies were black listed after purchase resulting non-payment of refunds of commercial exporters. He demanded of the Collectorate to set some parameters for making payments of refund claims in case black listing of a company. He said that Sales Tax Audit had been suspended in previous budget but we came to know that Collectorate has started unannounced Audit.
