A group of professionals has formed "Safari and Outdoor Club of Pakistan" with its office at Clifton in Karachi. The Club aims to establish, provide, manage, maintain, promote sustainable uses of nature, wildlife, conservation and development of habitual for wildlife and disseminate knowledge and encourage breeding of wildlife.
It is also aimed to collect, gather, disseminate and distribute data regarding wildlife population in Pakistan in general and in Sindh particularly.
The Club will promote and organise activities such as birds watching, trekking, mountaineering, hunting, archery, camping, fishing, rock climbing and all other outdoor sports.
The Club will seek assistance and co-operation of the government, semi-government and other institutions, organisations working in the same field. It will also grant stipends, loans, scholarships, books, computer educational CDs and any other material for the purpose of imparting wildlife education theorical or practical, to the deserving students in Pakistan.
Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Jamote is selected first president of the Club, while Mian Zadir Shah and Ghulam Rasool Jatoi, as vice-presidents, and Mohammad Mahmud as general secretary.
Its other founding members include Major Mohammad Shamim Khan, Mumtaz-ur-Rahim, Hameedullah Parcha, Syed Omer Abbass Jilani, Farid Virani, Pervaiz Hussain, Kamran Y. Mirza, Commander Malik Arshad Gilani, Mohammad Khan Hoti, Lieutenant General Ali Kuli Khan Khattak, Ahmed Kuli Khan Khattak, Saleem Adil, Mumtaz Ali Memon, and Marzouk Mahfooz.-PR
