Malaysian share prices closed flat on Thursday as investors remained cautious ahead of the release of third-quarter economic data next week, dealers said. They said there was some support from light window-dressing activity by local funds.
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index was up 0.75 points at 903.65. Losers led gainers 363 to 240, with 343 stocks unchanged and 381 untraded. Volume was 271.21 million shares worth 525.89 million ringgit (139 million dollars).
The ringgit was at 3.7798 to the dollar and 4.4666 to the euro.
"It's another boring day. There were some light window-dressing by local funds but the key index continued to trade in a narrow range," said a local brokerage dealer.
Among blue chips, Tenaga Nasional was up 0.05 ringgit at 9.95, Telekom Malaysia gained 0.05 to 9.70, while Maybank rose 0.10 to 11.40.
