In order to resolve the accommodation problems confronting the industrial workers, the construction work on second labour colony of Sialkot costing Rs 780 million would be started shortly.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday that the proposed colony was being constructed at Sialkot-Sambrial road and it would consists of 1000 flats where all basic facilities would be ensured.
In addition to this, the government has accorded its special attention on resolving the problems pertaining to health, education and accommodation being faced by the industrial workers in Punjab.
Labour complexes, adjacent to industrial estates, costing Rs 2.8 billion, would be constructed in various cities of the province. Each labour complex would consist of a community and commercial centre, residential colony, dispensary, vocational training and a school for the children of industrial workers. The work on the establishment of two English medium schools and construction of a mini hospital has been initiated in Chawinda.
HEALTH FACILITIES: In order to provide maximum health facilities to the industrial workers and their dependents social security hospitals costing Rs 2 billion were being constructed in various industrial towns of the province.
The construction work on an ultra modern hospital is full swing in Sialkot. This hospital would consist of 100 beds while the facility of cardiology, gynaecology and haemo-dialysis would be provided in the hospital.
The hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs 120 million while Rs 150 million would be spent on equipping the hospital with the latest medical machinery.
