Glowing tributes were paid to late Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani for his unparalleled services for supremacy of democracy and the constitution and strengthening of the judicial system and freedom of press.
"He would always be remembered and the gap created by his demise could never be filled," agreed the speakers at a conference organised here by Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) in the memory of Shah Ahmed Noorani here on Sunday. Speaker National Assembly, Chaudhry Amir Hussain, addressing the conference as chief guest said in such a short meeting it was very difficult to shed light on the variety of services rendered by Shah Noorani for the progress of the Nation. "He played his constructive and reformative role in every government that ruled the country during the past," he said.
He said Maulana Noorani was a true Muslim and we should follow his footsteps to create a better image of Islam in eyes of the world. "Tolerance and mutual respect should be the hallmark of a real Muslim, the National Assembly Speaker pointed out.
Former Justice Saeeduzzama Siddiqui, in his address on the occasion, highlighted Shah Noorani's services particularly his great contribution in the formulation of 1973 constitution.
Professor senator Abdul Ghafoor, in his address, said late Noorani was not only a well wisher and leader of Pakistan but he represented the whole Muslim Ummah.
He devoted his whole life for upholding the rule of Islam, Professor Ghafoor said, and vowed that the mission left incomplete by him would be accomplished.
Professor Muhammad Ahmed Siddiqui, PPPP General Secretary Sindh Nafees Siddiqui, Shah Hamid Rabbani Siddiqui, MNA Haji Fazl Karim and Vice Chancellor Islamic University for Women Dr Farida Ahmed Siddiqui also lauded the invaluable services rendered by the great religious and political leader.
Later, prayers were also offered for eternal peace of the departed soul, the progress and prosperity of the country and quake relief and rehabilitation of quake survivors.
