Some commodities fluctuated both ways gaining or losing with big margins while the rest of the items reacted marginally owing to smooth supplies during the week ended on November 26, 2005, traders said.
Commodities which ruled substantially higher were Isbaghol bhoosi, chilghoza roasted and raisin whereas cloves, dry giner, cuminseed, tamarind, moong, chilghoza unroasted, FMS and Irri-white were losers by substantial margin. The rest of the item were marked almost at week-end rates.
On the opening day a few changes were marked as trend showed steady going: On the rice side, Irri-white lost Rs 25 to Rs 925 and better type was quoted at Rs 950.
On Tuesday dry fruits were substantially higher such as Raisin II was up Rs 200 to Rs 3800, apricot was quoted between Rs 3,200 and Rs 4,800 apricot II down RS 600 to Rs 2,400, chilghoza roasted up Rs 2000 to Rs 34,000 chilghoza unroasted down Rs 6000 to Rs 22,000 and FMS down Rs 700 to Rs 2,700.
Moong Punjab was down sharply due to smooth supply. It lost Rs 60 to Rs 2940, Masoor Australian was quoted at Rs 2900, and Dal Masoor from India was quoted at Rs 3350 and better type at Rs 1960 without specifying the rise in both case. Guwar staying firm for sometime lost Rs 20 to Rs 1860 and better type was quoted at Rs 1960.
On Wednesday wheat Mexipak old and new both climbed higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1135 while better type quoted higher at Rs 1145, guwar was again down by Rs 30 to Rs 1850 and better type quoted down at Rs 1950, and cottonseed oilcake lost Rs 5 to Rs 460, though the better type resisted decline to stay at Rs 475.
Some items of kirana were basically down by substantial margin such as cloves shed Rs 200 to Rs 9500, dry ginger down Rs 100 to Rs 8600, Isbaghol bhoosi up Rs 100 to Rs 8,600, cuminseed down Rs 250 to Rs 3,600 and tamarind down Rs 70 to Rs 680.
On Thursday chemicals underwent some changes including sodium sulphate down 25 paisa to Rs 8.50, N.J. Taiwan up 50 paisa to Rs 99.50, Formic acid Pak up Re 1 to Rs 43, oxalic acid China up Re 1 to Rs 89, citric acid China down Rs 2 to Rs 48, petroleum jelly sulphonic acid soft up 40 paisa to Rs 72, PVA Japan up Re 1 to Rs 139, Rangolite C China up Rs 3 to Rs 34, hydrosulphite China 88 pc down Re 1 to Rs 43, Germany's down Rs 2 to Rs 59, acetic acid Taiwan up Re 1 to Rs 71, Korea up Re 1 to Rs 43, hydrogen peroxide 35 percent Korea 5 percent up Re 1 to Rs 24.50, and Taiwan down quoted at Rs 27.50. Guwar was down Rs 25 to Rs 1825 and better on quoted at Rs 1925, wheat shed Rs 5 to Rs 1130 and better was quoted at Rs 1140.
On Friday raw rubber prices dipped modestly such as raw rubber from Ceylon RSSV lost Re 1 to Rs 52, pale crape TPC shed Re 1 to Rs 57, and latest Semnan Tex down Rs 6 to Rs 339 and Thai (G.T.) down same amount to Rs 339.
The wheat prices both old and new dipped by Rs 5 to Rs 1130 and better one was reported at Rs 1140, cotton cakes with bag shed Rs 10 to Rs 450 and better quoted at Rs 465.
On SaturdayGrain on the cereal side Bajra superior type maintained its last level at Rs 1325 while the low quality shed Rs 25 to Rs 1425 in modest activity.
