The Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved its verdict in a petition filed by a bar member praying to the court to restrain the respondent government from signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).
The petitioner, MD Tahir contended that the respondent government would sign CTBT under American pressure. He said that America and India had not yet signed the CTBT but America was pressurising the Pakistan government to sign CTBT.
The court, after hearing the petitioner and the law officer at length, reserved its verdict.
NOTICE ISSUED The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to the respondent government and directed to submit its reply in a petition filed by a bar member praying to the court to declare performance of Umrah on official expenditures as un-Islamic, illegal and unconstitutional.
The petitioner, M.D. Tahir also prayed to the court to direct the respondent government to get recovered the amount from the respondents who performed Umrah on government expenses. He prayed to the court to restrain the respondent government from allowing performance of Haj and Umrah on official expenditures.
ATTACK CONDEMNED Vice-Chairman Punjab Bar Council (PBC) Asghar Gill, while condemning the attack on PBC member Agha Zafar Iqbal, has called upon the IG Police to arrest the culprits and award them severe punishment.
While addressing a press conference here on Monday, Gill said that the police has failed to arrest the murderer of Muhammad Anwar Qureshi advocate and culprits involved in murderous attack on member bar Muhammad Arif Bhindar. He said that the government has failed to protect the life, property and honour of its citizens.
