The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Monday filed afresh an adjournment motion with the National Assembly about the publication of 'sketches' of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) in a Danish newspaper.
In the motion, MMA contended that suspending routine business, the House should initiate a debate on the matter. It deplored that despite surfacing of the issue, reports and comments thereon, there had been neither any reaction from the government so far nor an explanation was sought from Denmark.
"Such sacrilegious publication in no way can be overlooked. It is a very serious matter concerning the whole Muslim Ummah," the motion read.
The motion noted that Denmark, which calls for religious amity and respect to human rights across the globe, should have taken notice of this publication. "This shows the European policy markers' hatred for Islam. This is unpardonable."
The Danish Muslims had to come on streets to show their anger and anguish, demanding exemplary punishment to those responsible for such act.
MMA's spokesperson Saifullah Khan told Business Recorder that the Majlis would raise the issue on a point of order, if it were not entertained on the floor of the House.
Those who signed the motion include Liaquat Baloch, Shabbir Ahmed, Hafiz Hussain, Sahibzada Abul Khair, Maulana Abdul Malik, Mian M Aslam and Maulana Ahmed Ghafoor.
Earlier, the opposition alliance had filed a similar motion on November 7, but it was not brought on the agenda during the previous session.
