The Ministry of Youth Affairs has sent a 36-member youth delegation to China on Thursday to develop more understandings among the young people of both the neighbouring countries.
The delegation, led by Jalaluddin Sohail, Joint Secretary Ministry of Youth Affairs, have an equal representation of male and female, will visit to Shanghai and Beijing.
Besides, visiting various youth development centers, the delegation will also explore different cultural and historical sites in the People's Republic of China.
The selection of the youth delegation had been made through a computerised balloting during the national youth convention held in Islamabad in July.
Three journalists, one male and female from each of the four provinces, Islamabad, Fata, NAs and Azad Jammu & Kashmir have also been selected through the balloting.
Talking to the delegation and media, former state minister for youth affairs Mohammad Ali Durrani said that the President and Prime Minister had decided to establish independent youth division to launch a long-term youth development policy for the uplift of youth.
Youth division would be an important centre for the new generation. He said that 60 percent of the country's population was either youth or entering into this age in near future.
State Minister for Youth Affairs Sumera Malik said that such youth delegations would develop better interaction with the youngsters of the other countries, which would help in removing the misunderstandings about Pakistan.
Talking to this scribe, a number of students expressed their pleasure and said that as youth they would try to learn maximum from the people of China.
Ayub Muttasir, a member of the delegation from NAs said that he was thankful to the government for giving him a chance to visit an important neighbouring country and added that the delegation would set a good example abroad.
