Religious groups in Islamabad strongly opposed the government's plan to install digital cameras in mosques and vowed to resist the idea with full of might.
Led by Mian Mohammad Aslam MNA from Islamabad, a number of ulema openly opposed the idea at a press conference here on Thursday and termed the decision against the dignity of sacred places.
They said that the religious group would not permit the law enforcement agencies to monitor mosques and madaris through any electronic system.
Speaking on the occasion, Qazi Abdul Rashid slammed the government of harassing ulema unnecessarily demanded to withdraw false case against ulema.
According to him the police and other law enforcement agencies frequently were conducting raids on mosques and madaris.
He condemned the recent raid on a mosque at Bara Koh Islamabad, where police personnel entered into the worship place with shoes for arresting Qari Sohail Abbasi.
He also demanded of the IGP and DIG Islamabad to suspend concerned SHO of police station Bara Koh, for violating the basic principles of Islamic.
Mian Mohammad Aslam suggested that the government should cooperate with ulema in settling these issues instead of harassing them.
He also demanded of the government to take serious action against the officials of law enforcement agencies, who had registered false cases against Qari Sohail Abbassi and Qari Ahsanullah.
The ulema were of the view that they would pass a resolution on Friday to condemn the police raid on mosque in Bara-Koh, besides would hold a protest congregation of ulema in Islamabad on December 4.
