In occupied Kashmir, protest demonstrations were held in Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam, and Islamabad districts against anti-people policies of the puppet regime and also its failure to reach out to the quake-affected people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the angry protestors in Uri and Handwara raised full-throated anti-India and anti-puppet regime slogans for their total indifference to the plight of the quake victims.
The people in many villages of district Budgam observed a complete strike and took out massive protest demonstrations against the anti-people policies of the puppet regime. Tyres were burnt on the roads and markets remained closed.
Meanwhile, 12 shops were gutted in a devastating fire in main market of Qazigund in Islamabad district. The cause of the fire could not be known.
Demilitarisation, Self-Rule Supported: Addressing public gatherings in Srinagar, Budgam and Islamabad, APHC leaders, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Musavi and Javed Ahmed Mir reiterated that demilitarisation and self-governance in Kashmir will herald a new era of peace and security in South Asia.
The Kashmiri leaders pointed out that the Pakistan's proposal should be taken seriously by India to facilitate a long-term solution to the vexed Kashmir dispute.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) President Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in a statement in occupied Srinagar, deplored Indian hesitation to positively respond to demilitarisation move in Kashmir.
Prominent liberation leaders of Jammu region in an extra-ordinary meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement at Bhaderwah in Doda expressed full support to the proposal of demilitarisation and self-governance in Kashmir. The leaders included Abdul Hai Khateeb, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj, and Noor Muhammad Fayaz.-KMS
